Dan Soder is the voice better known as Scared Dan on 92.1 and 101.3 KFMA. A veteran of KAMP student radio at the University of Arizona--where he is currently finishing up his degree--Soder performed the rare feat of making the successful jump from college to commercial radio. Listeners can tune into Scared Dan on Saturday and Sunday nights on KFMA.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

The Turtles, at Mile High Stadium in Denver. The messed-up part was my aunt convinced me that it was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, not some old, burned out rockers ... so I was one pissed-off 6-year-old.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

Queens of the Stone Age, Songs for the Deaf; Outkast, ATLiens; Tool, Aenema.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

I had the honor of having some jackass steal my CD booklet out of my car--not once, but twice! The last time was in June '03, but since then, I have about 175 CDs, no tapes, etc. ... I'm too lazy to listen to anything but CDs.

Do you download music, and if so, legally?

My freshman year of college, I downloaded a shitload of illegal music. Since then, my computer crashed, so all of my great free songs are dead. Stupid computer!

What was the first album you owned?

To be honest, the first album I ever owned was the 1984 smash by Huey Lewis and the News, Sports. I still think it kicks ass.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

I'm gonna have to say "Eulogy" (by Tool); an awesome, long song that would make people stay at my funeral longer than they wanted to.

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What are your guilty pleasures?

(The) Dave Matthews Band, and Michael Jackson (old school) before he decided to "baby-sit" so many kids. Chicago is another lame band that I like, just because they did the soundtrack for Karate Kid II.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

No band has changed my life, but I definitely think Nirvana would be the first on the list (if there was a list). They were one of the best bands of all time.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Are You Experienced? Best album ever, no doubt about it!
