Nine Questions 

Kyle Tusing is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Arizona. Before and after lectures, Dr. Tusing plays a wide variety of music for his students. From jazz and blues to grunge and metal, it's clear that Tusing has a vast appreciation of music.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

AC/DC--"Who Made Who" tour, Aug, 29, 1986, Met Center (Bloomington, Minn.). I still have the ticket stub.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

Ryan Adams, Gold; Bob Dylan, Blood on the Tracks; Fourkiller Flats, Fourkiller Flats; Hüsker Dü, New Day Rising; Ivy, Apartment Life; Replacements, Tim.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

Around 325. If I had the budget, that number would be 3,000.

Do you download music, and if so, legally?

Sometimes from a band's Web site--legally.

What was the first album you owned?

Business as Usual, Men at Work.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

"Debaser," the Pixies.

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

Electronica/fusion; Hall & Oates.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

The Doors. They let me know that there was another world outside of suburbia waiting to be discovered.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.
