It’s painfully clear that this film is the first part of a planned trilogy, since everything in it is set up for the next two movies. So if you want to watch two hours of exposition, this is really the film for you. If not, here’s the plot so you can just catch the next two parts: War between immortal armies, good vs. evil, ancient prophecy, Russian vampires, owl turns into a naked chick, blah blah blah. Imagine if Tolkien had been a goth-rock teen. Now dumb it down a little, and add some of the most inventive and entertaining special effects you’re likely to see this year. If you think that’s your cup of tea, and Type O Negative isn’t playing anywhere this weekend, you might want to check this out. But I think your best bet would be to get really high first.
