You are pathetic loser. No, I'm not addressing the UA basketball team. I mean you people who live and die by the UA basketball team.

College basketball is a harmless entertainment; there's nothing inherently wrong with it, as long as it doesn't interfere with what the college is really there for. (Pro sports, on the other hand, are a social toxin that should be eradicated, except that the team owners would figure out a way to make millions of dollars out of declaring their stadiums Superfund sites.)

The trouble is, college basketball is only a game. It is not worth rioting over. It isn't even worth squandering your money on overpriced, garish red souvenir T-shirts. It is a passing weekend fancy.

You want something worth getting worked up over? How about the evil legislative forces out to destroy the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan? How about the efforts of Sen. John McCain, who is otherwise fairly low on any left-leaner's list of statesmen, to skim some of the sleaze off the top of campaign financing?

These are not high-adrenaline topics, but they directly affect the quality of your life and the quality of your governance. And unless you follow these issues in the Really Big Game, you are doomed to lose.
