New in Town
This film uses the tired fish-out-of-water premise, at first ridiculing local townsfolk before turning to praise, and expecting viewers to laugh at the commonplace slapstick all along. However, it just is not funny. Renée Zellweger stars as Lucy, a stuck-up ice queen in stilettos. When she is sent from Miami to small-town Minnesota to downsize the local factory, her designer suits don’t mesh with the scrapbooking tapioca-makers. Director Jonas Elmer’s flick is a waste of time.
