This is what democracy looks like! What an experience to be part of this march, to hear our Mayor Rothschild give a supportive speech, to see and hear enthusiasm for joining together to support what so many of us believe in: autonomy over our own bodies, women's rights, support for the downtrodden. Congratulations, Tucson Weekly for the great video. I have sent it onward via Youtube.
Maybe it's just as well she didn't mention LE BUZZ (Catalina Highway and Tanque Verde Rd.) which has their own roasted coffees from exotic places, but also their own bakery ....... croissants to die for. It's getting much too crowded......just celebrated 20 years in Tucson. CONGRATULATIONS, MARGARET! WE
LOVE LE BUZZ! ( The LE is pronounced the French way).
So glad to get the Weekly online and such an impressive piece by David Safier and the first commenter as well. We moved here in 1965 from NYC, kids walking to great little Wrightstown Elementary. Now... Wrightstown has been .razed and is surrounded by Charters. "a state with one of the lowest per pupil funding rates in the nation where the legislature persists in refusing to pay the schools money the courts hae ordered them to pay" (from first commenter). That says it all.
Chuck was on a radio program on border issues some years ago with a group of newspeople. When he spoke, he cut through all the blather to the truth. The contrast between what he said and the platitudes of the rest was marked. A remarkable man and a privilege to have heard him then.
The rumor that Jack Gibson is a finalist at Plattsburg, NY station is absolutely not true. And whoever started this rumor is not someone I would like to know. It's an utter fabrication.
Please Post John's newest column on AZPM.
To those who complain about fundraising on AZPM (the thread began with the issue being 2 million to be cut from the stations, leaving 600,000 a year after 5 years). When you listen to commercial radio, have you ever counted up the amount of time ads took? I notice it when I'm listening to UA basketball games....more ads than programming, sometimes.
Yeah to Fitz' cartoon on Sunday, backing up AZPM!
At any rate, I'm hoping people who like AZPM like I do, who would miss the Newshour,
Doc Martin, and on the radio, good music 24 hrs a day, or This American Life, Garrison Keillor et al, will speak up and protest these cuts to Ann Weaver Hart, the President of UA.
