Mr. Peabody & Sherman 3D
If the Rocky & Bullwinkle vehicle back in 2000 didn’t light it up (Robert De Niro’s worst performance ever as Fearless Leader), then why are we talking about a movie version of one of its featured shorts? And why did it cost $145 million? Man, somebody’s going to get fired for that. Mr. Peabody & Sherman grinds out the requisite laughs for kids (all flatulence or scatology jokes) but otherwise lays a giant egg. The story of the smartest dog in the world, his adopted human son and their incredible Wayback Machine is dense and dull. Worse, it doesn't have the joy of the decades-old cartoons that inspired it. Feels very much like a case of Hollywood trying to cash in on a name, and feels even more like it failed.
