The truth is , my familys store ., that the original design was rejected by the store . They asked her to redo it , she replaced with obscene upside down logo because evidently this pissed her off.
. About the El Conquestador , my grandfather Aaron Levy did not want Elcon there . In fact his old home backs to current Elcon and he lived the hotel and thought it could be fixed up . Wanted to do the mall further east where park mall is now and as Levys was the anchor the Elcon deal was stalled .
Unfortunately he died suddenly at 53. His brother sold the stores to Federated Department stores In 1959 . Thats whom made the deal for Elcon .
So his death reshaped Tucson .
I often wonder what it would have loooked like .
