Based on Winifred Watsons 1938 novel, this farce offers satisfaction during its 92-minute running time, but its otherwise unmemorable. With England on the brink of World War II, a homeless and jobless governess (Frances McDormand) steals a job opportunity as a social secretary to a dizzying American socialite (Amy Adams) who is determined to live in the fast lane. Even though the two women live in different worlds, they discover that they have more in common than they thought.
