Re: “Danehy

Isn't it interesting that both the AIA and NCAA claim the number one interest and priority are the student-athletes.

Both say it as if it is the foundation of their existence yet their behavior is somewhat in direct contradiction of its stated mission.

Both organizations need to be replaced with a new model that truly respects the essence of prep and college athletics.

Re: “Michael Hicks Reacts to Recall Effort on Facebook

Is this one of the 5 community members entrusted to be an educational leader? Perhaps instead of leading he may re-enroll in a basic spelling and writing class (if he ever took one). How shameful that one with such limited communication skills and basic educational essentials is allowed to 'rule the Stegeman/Pedicone roost'. Even more shameful is that several hundred Tucsonans voted for him!

Re: “Guest Commentary

Bullying is not just a LGBT matter, it is a disease that is running rampant and tolerated by many local schools obviously in denial or in concert with the perpetrators. My grand-daughter spent 1 1/2 years at a local MUSD school being verbally and physically abused with an administration refusing to take appropriate actions to protect her. Finally when cornered in the bathroom, used force to get away from harms way and the consequence was a suspension for aggressing, the Sheriff being called and the school insisting she be charged with assault and battery. Of course as in the past, the bully's went about their normal routine smug in the knowledge the administration condoned their actions!
This story is not an isolated incident but rather rampant in this particular MUSD school. Shamefully many in the faculty are aware of the prevailing violence but reluctant to call the administration to be accountable for fear of retribution.

Re: “The Contender

I wish the best for Mandito. Hopefully the intent of the handlers is in the best interest of Mandito and not a manifestation of their own personal unfulfilled agendas.
The world of boxing is brutal and unforgiving.
My advice is not to get too serious when dreaming of world championships and riches earned but to excel in his studies while @ SSHS.
6-4 record, a loss at Golden Gloves, tired legs at his age and his handlers rationalizing his losses is not too promising.
I admire his demonstrated discipline required to participate in boxing but the reality is there is only one champion and many pretenders.
What he learns in the ring is only worthy if one is able to then apply the lessons to the real world like securing an education, a noble vocation and how to live with honor and respect.

Mucha suerte Mandito!

Thank you for having the courage to speak out against the real terrorist threat that exists in this world. Men(predators) acting like the devil disguised in religious garb!

Re: “D.O.A.

How incredibly tragic and sad that these souls are so discounted when their northern treks are the direct result of failed American and Mexican border policies.

Shame on the AZ Governor and her allies in the Legislature that are so disconnected from the dynamics of the immigration issue and are obviously preying on the misfortune of the courageous.

We are certainly at an 'ugly place' and the only immediate solution is to rid the State of these elected leaders that intentionally distort the issue by spreading falsehoods and fear!

Kudos to Ms. Regan!
