Re: “Today in Breaking Shaved-Ice News

It reads "shave ice" on the sign because that's how it is said in the mother country - Hawai'i. Not shaved ice - shave ice! Except on the Big Island, where shave ice is known as Ice Shave. Whutevah!

Re: “Being Baldenegro

You are not a Native American. You may be an American. I agree that many people will support something they know little about. You know little about what went on in Tucson and the rest of Arizona during the 1800s and the first six decades of the 1900s. This is not about being victims. It is about telling the truth. And sometimes the truth hurts. Deal with it. And get on with it.

My profound apologies to Christopher Causey. My comments were directed towards Chuck. So siento mucho, senor Cristobal.

Re: “Being Baldenegro

Christopher Causey displays a sad ignorance of history in Arizona. I have heard this sad Tory story before and will hear it again. If you are brown and try to explain and understand the relationship between you and government/economic/social structure you are a radical. I would venture to say that Mr. Causey has not lived in Tucson for any length of time, has not read or experienced history in Tucson, and is singularly unqualified to speak about conditions here. To deny that racism existed in Arizona, is to turn one's back on history. All one has to do is read a legitimate history of Arizona - Mexicans were marginalized and discriminated against as soon as the railroad came through. Mexicans welcomed Anglos, intermarried and were pushed aside. Mexican-Americans accept Anglos but right-wing Anglos cannot accept Mexicans. And I don't mean illegals. I mean brown people. Right-wingers are paranoid about anyone who dares to address the facts of history. Tories: You are narrow, bigoted and ignorant of history. Too bad for you. I am an Anglo but grew up on the west side of Tucson, knew and socialized with Sal and ceci before we moved to Bisbee. They are not racists. The racists are those who try to re-write history.
