Re: “You can now drink beer (and wine) at Arizona Stadium!

I spent 16 years working on the team that cared for the stadium field while winning the STMA , Sports Turf Managers Association Award for the BEST Athletic Field in the nation one year. The condition of the turf in this picture clearly illustrates that the importance of the safety and quality of the field of play has taken a secondary position to that of the spectator and their experience. The BUSINESS of Collegiate Athletics is appalling when one considers the amount of money generated by unpaid student athletes.

Re: “Song of the Day: 'Tucson Kills'

Fuck You star command
you don't have a clue
you showed up out of the Blue
your here because you don't know what to do
you can judge and know whats wrong
you can never say it in a song
you can only point and say
I know a better way
but all you do is sit and judge
All those who've lived who hold no grudge

Re: “Good Bloat Days: Bloat Records

A most wonderful time to have been in Tucson. The Talent and Creativity seemed to have exploded raining down and enriching the parched palette of the Pueblo Viejo. Reading the quote from Becky "Bebe" sparked a memory of her contagious soul filled laugh unlike no other. The contributions of Bloat and it's Artists may be unknown to many but for those who were graced with the enjoyment of their Art realize they received a special gift.....

Re: “TUSD Teacher Dustin Williams is Well on His Way to Make the Ballot for Pima County Superintendent of Schools

Unrelated to the subject of the post, I can't help but comment. I worked at the UofA for 16 years and remember planting the the seasonal flowerbeds around the fountain for many of those years analyzing the soil ph, amending as necessary, carefully laying out the planting design and maintaining during each plantings season. . I noticed in the photo supporting this article the beds appear to have been filled and sealed. The fountain that greets people through the main gate now has the appearance of a huge urinal. Unbelievable what government places value on. I'm so glad I left before I had to witness this "Progress" in person. I can only wonder of the fate of Dr Forbes original Olive trees that I helped move to their new home on Speedway south of the so important parking garage. Our connection to nature is what makes us human, we become less human each day.....
