Re: “Danehy

I had an e-mail exchange with Danehy following his earlier rant about this. It's dismaying he's making some of the same attempts at assigning blame, using the same red herrings and straw men, that he did in e-mail. Like Krugman, Alter and other leftists, he just can't let go of the idea that this was a politically motivated shooting, in the same sense the assassinations of Lincoln, both Kennedys and King were. I'm not about to say Loughner "absolutely" wasn't politically motivated as Booth, Oswald, Ray and Sirhan were, but there's simply no evidence that he was. There is simply no evidence that he was influenced by right-wing talk radio or any other conservative messages.

Danehy is grasping at straws, seemingly due to an ideologically driven need to see the world through a particular political lens.

Re: “Danehy

Danehy has a lot of nerve to be complaining about "overheated rhetoric." The idea that Loughner targeted Giffords due to any "tea party" or Sarah Palin influence has been thoroughly and irretrievably debunked. He was after her as early as 2007, long before the tea party movement existed and long before anyone had heard of Sarah Palin. The accusation the sanctimonious and hypocritical left-wing extremist Danehy makes is itself, of course, a flaming example of the very thing he mock-piously pretends to condemn in his best Olbermann-perpetual-outrage tone.

Re: “Sue Krentz Seriously Injured

"Elm Creek Smith" - the drive who struck the pedestrians is reported to be an American citizen...not that it matters. Surely you're not going to suggest immigrants - of any status - are more likely to commit hit-and-run accidents?
