We could look at this a different way... companies evolve, expectations change (usually to be higher than in previous times), and a lot of time employees who aren't able to evolve find themselves in the situation of relishing what they've done in past rather than focus on the future and delivering on the current expectations. Now, I am not sure on any of the situations named above, but I will say there usually are two sides to every story. I know at the company where I work, if I delivered the same work today as I delivered ten years ago, I'd be out of a job. Ive heard that Target is working on developing leaders, and so many of the "do-ers" who built their careers by knowing how to stock quickly or merchandise may not bring as much value added to the table. The best thing all of these people can do is get better prepared for the future, learn skills that merit a high wage, and move forward.... digging up the past isn't going to benefit anyone in this economy. If all the time spent complaining and reminiscing about the "good ol' days" was spent in becoming current and learning skills that merit high salaries, this article would be completely moot... just saying.
