Johnson Family Vacation

In a fully loaded pimpmobile of the 21st Century, Cedric the Entertainer stars as a hypocritical stuffed-shirt with shameless prejudices who steers his family on the most predictable ride this side of O.J. Simpson’s high-speed car chase. On their way to the annual family reunion to compete for the coveted "Family of the Year Award," the pubescent son annoys with his unintelligible street lingo, the superficial drama queen irritates with her cell phone addiction, and the devil-worshipping hitchhiker pointlessly appears with her pet alligator. Despite this inundation of attempted comedy, the worst is yet to come. There is an unsurprising series of standard road-trip jokes, an untalented show at the loud and chaotic family reunion, and a hot tub scene that makes the one in About Schmidt look like cinematic art. Former music video director Christopher Erksin makes his feature film debut with this National Lampoon’s Vacation wannabe and proves that Hollywood should make him take a forced vacation.
