Re: “Hidden Agenda?

Although my son graduated from Sonoran Science Academy last May, I will always think of myself as a “Sonoran Parent”. My son went to SSA from 6th grade through his graduation last year. This school was and is one of the best things that every happened to him. The teachers and administrators truly care about the education and development of the students. These education professionals, regardless of the country they came from, really care about these kids. These are people that take time to understand each student, and work with them to succeced. How many teachers do you know that will meet with students on Saturday for tutoring? How many high schools in Tucson, or any place for that matter can you list that the teachers have tutoring hours every week for students to get extra help?

The diversity of cultures at SSA is one of the things that make this school so superior. In the time my son was a student at SSA, he was fortunate to have teachers from Turkey, China and the United States. He also had teachers that had lived outside of the U.S. in Germany, Costa Rica, and Spain. The opportunities to learn about different cultures and beliefs were remarkable. In fact he has traveled to Germany, Turkey and Costa Rica on school trips.

I can’t help but wonder a few things about this article. First of all, the “parents” that seem to think that something evil is going on at SSA have offered no proof of that. I can’t help but think that these are parents that are not confident in there own beliefs, and havn’t taught their children to make good decisions. I also can’t help but wonder what the reporter was thinking by insinuating that something heinous is going on at SSA. I think that this is a case of irresponsible journalism, and it’s akin to a hate crime to publish such rubbish.

I can only assume that those that believe any of the garbage from this article are close minded judgmental frightened little people. I will tell anyone how wonderful this school is, and how the teachers and administrators have changed my son’s life and helped him achieve his full potential.
