'Memphis' C. Depp is a Texas Frenchman among the saguaros of Tucson, Ariz. Since moving there with his wife Sarah Rosie Rose in 2010, C. Depp has had a hand in numerous projects, including Club de Veste de Jean and Invisible Friend, a collaboration with Andrew Malenda & lispector, as well as several instrumental and vocal albums as a solo artist. Depp enlisted the producing skills of Calexico’s Joey Burns for his 2011 album “El Asshole Negro Pequeño”, a mature, French odd pop album recorded with both Burns and drummer John Convertino. Depp’s first album, “Belle épine”, was produced by Andrew Malenda in 2001, with musicians lispector and Mateo Depp, and lyrics by Aubierge Desalme. Depp’s previous incarnation, Invisible Friend, saw him collaborate with lispector (album “Human Problems and How to Solve Them”), release three albums (“Long Island Sound”, “Raj Mahal” and “Abandoned Buildings”) on Adult Male Records in the US and Besame Mucho in Europe, and tour the US and Europe opening for Danny & the Nightmares, Gerald Jay King, Joe Maynard, L.J. Murphy, The Roulette Sisters, Les Chaud Lapins, Calexico, Giant Sand… In addition to his “singing” albums, Depp is also recording an ongoing series of 'blacy spidey man' albums: “Talkin' Black Spidey Blues I-IV” (Babyjerk, 2010) and “Talkin' Black Spidey Blues X-beyond” (Howe Gelb’s Kombucha 4eva Records, 2011). Depp has composed for Julie Margat (lispector) and recorded with Sarah Rosie Rose, Andrew Malenda, Benjamin 'Sex' Bauermeister, Tom Walbank, Al Foul, Philip Glass, John Convertino, Joey 'Spideyman' Burns and, of course, Naïm Amor…
