It Might Get Loud

This film is billed as a “documentary on the electric guitar,” which it’s not. It’s actually a documentary about three electric guitarists: Jack White, The Edge and Jimmy Page. It’s strangely entertaining; I even brought a friend who had no interest in electric guitar, and she loved it. The film mostly explores the musical development of its three subjects. White’s love of old blues and punk moved him to make the heaviest electric blues he could. Edge’s hatred for metal and pop drove him toward the sparse and tight U2 sound. And Page just loved everything, and he steals the show with his infectious smile and voracious appetite for music. In the end, you’ll find White a bit affected, and Edge somewhat uptight, but you’ll just want to bask in Page’s presence. He’s the cool rock grandfather you wish you had.

It Might Get Loud is not showing in any theaters in the area.
