Animated, Comedy
Even with an all-star cast voicing the Tim Burton-esque animated characters, this family film falls flat. In the faraway kingdom of Malaria, where evil reigns supreme, a hunchbacked lab assistant named Igor (John Cusack) dreams of becoming a mad scientist and winning a blue ribbon at the esteemed Evil Science Fair. A suicidal bunny (Steve Buscemi) and an ironically dimwitted brain (Sean Hayes) help Igor fulfill his dreams. Together, they create Eva (Molly Shannon) out of reanimated parts. However, much to their dismay, she lacks evil and would rather sing and dance in front of a camera. Sharper editing and a smarter script could have made this deadened creation come alive.
