How to Train Your Dragon

In the Viking village of Berk, Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) is an unlikely hero. Surrounded by burly, bearded Vikings, clumsy, frail Hiccup wounds a dragon—and realizes he doesn’t have it in him to kill, leading to a curious friendship. How to Train Your Dragon gets plenty of mileage from its with-it script and a voice cast that also features Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson and America Ferrera. They keep things moving without trying to be showstoppers—and Ferguson is a real keeper. However, the animation is just OK. On the plus side, the 3-D is more vibrant and works better than it has in animated films like Up, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and Monsters vs. Aliens. Like the 3-D glasses that come with your tickets, How to Train Your Dragon is disposable, but it sets simple goals and slightly exceeds them.

How to Train Your Dragon is not showing in any theaters in the area.
