Comedy, Fantasy
Three friends and a younger nephew (John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke) go to a ski resort where the older guys spent some of their glory days. They hop into a hot tub, where a mechanical malfunction transports them back to 1986—and a very pivotal weekend in each of their lives. They try to retrace their steps in an attempt to avoid the butterfly effect, but temptations get the best of them, and they start screwing with history. Seeing Cusack visit his ’80s heyday is a trip, and Corddry and Robinson are howls as his friends. The movie provides a great excuse to play bad music, wear terrible clothes and rip on an obnoxious decade. Watch closely for nods to several ’80s Cusack classics.

Connect Savannah Review: Hot Tub Time Machine 2 Corddry, Duke and especially Robinson are still amusing to watch, but without Cusack around to anchor the proceedings with his likability and semi-straight man status, the film drifts further and further into strictly puerile waters. by Matt Brunson 02/17/2015
