Re: “Ask a Mexican!

Funny and sad -- the need of humans to create problems when its not necessary. All races have their differences and their prejudices. Whites use their religion and country of origin to distinguish themselves from one another. When criticism is within a race or group, let it be. Why be judgmental? Races and groups have the right to be critical of themselves. People cross the line when they criticize as OUTSIDERS. Outsiders need to stay out of it. Becoming involved when not fully educated on the culture or long-standing issues of others' history is what brings trouble.

Re: “Danehy

Danehy: I love your use of humor to point out human flaws. I hope we all learn to be more inclusive and empathetic with one another. Building a society based on exclusionism, which unfortunately has become a goal of Arizona's Republicans, will only foster hate. Thank you for speaking out on the tough issues, knowing you will take a verbal beating. There are many of us who feel and agree with your frustrations.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Best story I've seen yet on this subject. Both the Navajo and Hopi government leaders need to see the "bigger" picture. Yes, the environmental impacts and global warming are important issues, but so is the economic sovereignty of the tribes. Leases to outside companies should be replaced with joint-venture opportunities. Where in these United States is the Lessor-Lessee relationship for using one's assets acceptable anymore? When they "lease" the rights to the coal or other natural resources, they (tribes) give up their right to leverage their assets. The Lessee (Peabody) then gets to take the lease to the bank and leverage the tribe's assets. This doesn't make sense. Who is advising the tribes? They should be sued for incompetence!
