Disney’s third cinematic installment in this mega-million-dollar franchise continues with the same 1950s gee-whiz mentality and cheesy, feel-good, song-and-dance numbers that will entertain its young, devoted followers. Zac Efron stars as dreamy heartthrob Troy, a high school senior who must decide what he wants to do after graduating from East High School. Should he follow his high school sweetheart (Vanessa Hudgens) to Stanford, or go where his talents as a basketball player will take him? Although the film’s plot is weak, the sporadic musical interludes choreographed by director Kenny Ortega will invigorate fans with their relentless G-rated pep and pizzazz.
