Heroes Day 

When: Thu., Sept. 8 2011
Law officers, firefighters, paramedics and Border Patrol agents are among those honored with a day of activities on Thursday, Sept. 8. Free breakfast and lunch are available to all first responders at all Jack Furrier Tire and Auto Care locations from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. An event introducing Hero of the Year award recipients firefighter Tyler Menke, sheriff's deputy Nicole Crawson, and Department of Public Safety officer Dan Gutierrez takes place at 9:30 a.m., at La Encantada, 2905 E. Skyline Drive. Stronger Than Steel, a photography exhibit featuring Roni Ziemba's images from ride-alongs with the Tucson Fire Department, is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily, from Thursday, Sept. 8, through Sunday, Sept. 11 at La Encantada. A live-remote radio telethon featuring 94.9 MIX-FM's Bobby Rich takes place Sept. 8 through 11 to raise funds for the UMC Trauma Center. Donations also may be phoned in to 694-1196.
