Pueblo High School's Mariachi Aztlan group has been performing throughout Tucson since 1992 and continues to be one of the most popular performing arts groups in any local high school. Under the tutelage of John Contreras, the youth mariachi group has more than 120 members made up of students between the age of 14 and 18. And while the club does receive funding from the school and TUSD, it still needs help to be able to make all its performances. El Casino Ballroom is hosting a fundraiser to help Mariachi Aztlan de Pueblo, with performances from numerous mariachi and folklorico acts including Las Aguilitas de Davis, Mariachi Puma, Folklorico TapatioTapatio, Sonido de Mexico, Corazón and the Festival Band. The event will also feature raffles and prizes. Cost is $10 per person, which includes a meal. –B.P.
