Horror
This is one of the better horror remakes in recent years. Colin Farrell is scary-funny as a vampire who moves in next door to Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) and his hot mom (Toni Collette). Farrell looks like he’s having a ball, and his performance is as infectious as one of his nasty vampire bites—and those bites are nasty. When he sinks his teeth in, you feel it in your neck. Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays yet another cool, angry nerd as Evil Ed. When Mintz-Plasse gets the chance to go badass, he relishes the opportunity. The ending is a bit of a cliché, but the freeway chase that concludes with a hilarious realty-sign sight gag most certainly is not. It’s sad to see this one failing at the box office. After the lameness of Twilight and the dwindling effectiveness of True Blood, it’s nice to see somebody putting the bad back in vampire. Farrell is one of the best bloodsuckers of all-time.

A Vampire to Behold

The 'Fright Night' remake is pretty decent, but a waste of 3-D »
