Fireproof
How can a person show love to someone who doesn’t want to see it? That’s the question brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick answer in this Christian film that was screened for pastors and not critics. The marriage of The Holts is on the rocks. Mr. Holt (Kirk Cameron) enjoys too much porn and invests more time as a firefighter than as a husband. Mrs. Holt (Erin Bethea) is fed up and provokes arguments whenever she can. However, Mr. Holt embarks on “The Love Dare,” his father’s Bible-led experiment that suggests that once he loves God, he’ll love everyone, including his wife. Surprisingly, despite the predictable conclusion, Fireproof is a well-made movie with Cameron delivering a respectable performance.
