At first, I was excited about Vin Diesel and Paul Walker returning to the franchise that made them famous. Then I remembered: Both of them kind of suck, and the first film was good because Rob Cohen filmed mean car-race scenes. This one has director Justin Lin (who helmed the lousy Tokyo Drift) trying to direct a grouchy Diesel, who constantly looks and sounds like he wants it to be nap time. There are a couple of OK (albeit ridiculous) chase and race scenes, but most of the movie deals with a stupid murder mystery. Michelle Rodriguez makes an all-too-brief appearance. They needed her for the whole movie, because she actually brings life to the screen, whereas Diesel and Walker bring tedium.
