The title of this romantic comedy could be a sexual innuendo relating to erectile dysfunction. However, as far as rookie writers Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember are concerned, Failure to Launch refers to the independently challenged 30-something male who still lives with Mommy and Daddy. Here, Matthew McConaughey plays this mooching man-child, though who can blame him? His mom (Kathy Bates) cooks and cleans for him daily. He spends everyday accentuating his rugged, tanned looks by playing various sweat-producing extreme sports. And his living situation helps his communicational inadequacies with women when its breakup time. However, all good things must come to an end, so Mom and Dad hire an independence specialist (Sarah Jessica Parker) to date their son and convince him to move out. More dishonesty ensues; random wild animal attacks occur; a drunken roommate offers comic relief; and Terry Bradshaw shows his sagging naked butt three times too many. With sexual innuendos at the ready, all systems are go with this wild ride.
