Even the Rain

This story about two filmmakers—Sebastián (Gael García Bernal) and Costa (Luis Tosar)—trying to make a true-to-life film about Christopher Columbus is hard to follow. Tensions flare when Costa decides to shoot the film in Bolivia to save costs—and things start to go really wrong when they become embroiled in what is now known as Bolivian Water War. I don’t know if it was the language barrier or the fact that I don’t recall these real-life events (the film is based on a true story), but I simply couldn’t get into it. However, I can’t say enough about how well-shot and beautiful the outdoor surroundings are; Even the Rain depicts some of the most stunning landscapes I’ve seen in a film.

Even the Rain is not showing in any theaters in the area.
