There’s an awful lot of pretty in Endless Love: It’s got pretty actors and it’s certainly pretty empty. Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde are a couple of beautiful Brits who play teenagers from Georgia, falling hard for each other the summer after they graduate from high school. It’s a perfect, totally fabricated kind of love, too. She comes from money and is about to be pre-med at Brown; he comes from nothing and works in his dad’s garage. Her father (Bruce Greenwood) is dead-set against the match, and from a practical standpoint he’s probably right to object. But what good is practicality when your actors are this aggressively attractive? This is, as you might have guessed, a remake of the early 1980s flick with Brooke Shields. And, as you also might have guessed, it’s as sappy as a grove of Vermont maple trees.
