A fiesta that traditionally welcomes the monsoon season takes place from 5 to 11 p.m., Friday, June 24. The event opens with a traditional religious procession featuring an antique statue of San Juan Bautista. Music and dancing follow, as well as a women's precision horse-riding group, known as Escaramuzas; vendors of food and crafts; clowns from the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus giving away discount tickets and promotional items; and games and activities for children. Free. Alcohol-free. Call 837-4268 for more information.
