Editor's Note

Maybe there is a newspaper gawd …

OK, well, maybe not. However, there are a few days, here and there, which make me think there could be one doing good deeds for newspapers.

Our version of Santa, maybe, with newsprint pirate hat and ripped jeans, along with a brown corduroy jacket with patches on the elbows. I may have just described a photographer on staff during my days at the Arizona Daily Wildcat, sans pirate hat.

Back to the newspaper gawd. Let's give it some huge thanks for bringing us Brian Smith. Yes, the author of the Tucson Weekly column, Tucson Salvage, joined our staff as arts and music editor. Smith's depth of knowledge as an editor and writer isn't lost on this Weekly World Central bunch. We are grateful he's joined us. We know you'll have lots to share with him. His email address is brian@tucsonlocalmedia.com. Now back to the newpaper prayer circle. Let's see if that corduroy jacket-wearing gawd can come through on the other things on my long list. Dear Times Roman lord, it's me, Mari ... Are you there?
