Another Bundle of Printed Joy

While her original vote for the rushed repeal-and-replace of the Affordable Care Act was disgraceful (so much so that she wouldn't even tell the press her position, even while she was cheerleading the legislation behind closed doors), Republican Congresswoman Martha McSally is now working across the aisle with fellow Arizona congressional Reps. Tom O'Halleran (D-AZ01) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ09) to shore up the online exchanges where people can buy health insurance if they don't get it through their employer or qualify for Medicaid. Since the rising costs on the exchanges are one of the central problems with Obamacare (exacerbated by a president who won't commit to the supporting the subsidies that allow the insurance to be affordable), it's certainly a step in the right direction. Elise McClain has the details in Currents this week.

Elsewhere in the book: Movie reviewer Bob Grimm warns you to avoid The Dark Tower; arts critic Sherilyn Forrester tells you why you need to see the show of photography by the acclaimed Danny Lyons at downtown's Etherton Gallery; contributor Serene Dominic gets to the bottom of the exactly how Paul McCartney was replaced at the tragic accident that took his life back in 1966; and we've got so much more.

And I almost forgot: TW's new staff writer Danyelle Khmara and I have a breakdown of the Ward 3 primary election. If you're a Democrat or independent voter in north-central Ward 3, you really should see who these candidates are and how they differ before the balloting closes on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

The Skinny is on vacation again this week, but it will return in our next edition.

Thanks for reading!
