Waiting

shutterstock_133534751.jpg

The desert is quiet

Saguaros are dressed

in red hats

pinned with a dove

feasting on fruit

Circadas fill mesquites

singing to encourage

the monsoon

Lizards perform pushups

in the cover of shade

Sustained temperatures

over 100 degrees

Plants wither and fade

turn brown

begging for rain

Quietly -

the desert waits
