Dust Devil

Outside white heat distorts the image of a building's brick façade. Inside AC's thrum makes those working at computers comfortable. But I am not working. And I am not comfortable. The leader dismisses us to the parking lot. Colleagues groan and spill into the breezeway. No breeze. I stand immobile on the pavement. The heat bakes my skin, relaxes my muscles and awakens my joints. My hot car beckons.
