Dust Devil

Cowboy Dreams

Early in the morning

Before the sun comes up

An old cowboy dozes

While brewing the coffee

Too tired to stand, too achy to sit

He kneels by the fire

Eyes closed, he dreams...

A warm bed, a hot breakfast

A cowboy's needs are basic

His possessions few

But every now and then

Another life floats through

A little house, white picket fence

Maybe a family...

A pretty gal

A couple of little cowhands

Dawn is breaking

The cattle are stirring

Time to get moving

Pour a cup of coffee

Round up the hardtack

Heat up the beans

Ring the bell, call for chow

The day is underway
