Dom Hemingway

Think of Dom Hemingway as one of those ’80s bands with one huge smash and a bunch of songs nobody cares about. Jude Law is perfect in the starring role, playing a foul-mouthed safecracker finally released from prison after 12 years and seeking what’s his. But the rest of the movie is basically on life support. The story isn’t terribly compelling when it focuses on the other characters—bystanders in Dom’s darkly comic rants at a life misspent—and those characters are so thinly drawn to begin with that they don’t have any support to offer the guy. Still, Law is so on his game here that Dom Hemingway is worth a look if you dig mobster movies in the Guy Ritchie vein.

Dom Hemingway is not showing in any theaters in the area.
