Writers/directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are notorious for lampooning pop culture and exploiting current events like they did in Scary Movie, Date Movie and Epic Movie. They’re doing more of the same in Disaster Movie, where they follow attractive 20-somethings seeking safety from one natural disaster after another. The plot is irrelevant; it’s just an excuse to string along blatantly bad impersonations and over-the-top imitations of better movies. Through parodies of everything from High School Musical to Juno to Dr. Phil, Friedberg and Seltzer maintain their usual levels of crass, stupid humor—and they’re showing no signs of stopping
