Date Set, Award Won

Some notes and news:

• Mark your calendars: The ceremony, concert and all-around good time for this year's Tucson Area Music Awards, aka TAMMIES, will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Rialto Theatre. That's when we'll announce all of this year's big winners, which will be determined by you, our lovely and intelligent music-loving readers. Look for the announcement of this year's TAMMIES finalists within the next week or two, which will kick off the final round of TAMMIES voting.

TucsonWeekly.com readers know that we've put a lot of effort into The Range, our daily dispatch, at blog.TucsonWeekly.com—and that effort has now gained some national recognition.

The Suburban Newspapers of America awarded The Range first place in the Best Blog Initiative category (for non-daily newspapers with a circulation of less than 100,000) in its 2010 Web Site Contest.

Thanks to all of you who visit The Range on a regular basis. And to those of you who don't visit The Range on a regular basis ... well, you're missing out on a lot. We have the award to prove it.

• Finally ... almost every day, someone asks me when Best of Tucson® will be coming out. The answer: Sept. 23. It's our tradition to do Best of Tucson® voting in the spring; we take the summer to put the issue together; we announce the results and show off the fruits of our labor at the very start of fall.
