What if somebody made a film about the
infamous Zimbardo prison experiment?
You know, that thing they did in Stanford
in the early 70s where they locked up a
bunch of students in a pretend prison and
had pretend guards abuse them and
mis-use them until common sense
prevailed and the experiment was called
off? Well, director Oliver Hirschbiegels
film explores what would have happened
if the experiment was allowed to continue.
Its not pretty, though stars Moritz
Bleibtreu and Maren Eggert are. The
Experiment is doubly strange in that it
works as an action film and as an
art-house psychological drama. Take
your beer-swilling, football-watching,
postmodern comparative linguistics
friends to see it
youll be glad you did!
