In the summer of 1971, one of America's most chilling psychological experiments played out in the basement of Stanford University's psychology building. Twenty-four male students were placed into a prison simulation and given the role of guard or prisoner. The cautionary tale of a group of researchers who became integral parts in their own experiment has been recreated in a new drama, "The Stanford Prison Experiment." (See Colin Boyd's review.)
