Cool It

Environmentalist Bjørn Lomborg disagrees with Al Gore about global warming. Oh, Lomborg admits that climate change is real, but he disputes both the severity of it and the lasting impact. More importantly, as a trained economist, Lomborg believes that spending money to eradicate several of Gore’s reported causes of climate change would be more costly than just letting them run their course. He offers, if nothing else, an interesting alternative. In Cool It, Lomborg seeks out not only other methods to combat global warming that might be less-expensive in the long run (and, he claims, more effective), but also offers suggestions for other ways to spend money. Instead of fighting to drop the temperature a tenth of a degree, Lomborg argues, why not give all of Africa clean water? It’s something to consider.
