The idea that mathematics is racist is ridiculous. People from many different cultures contributed to math. The term algebra, for example, derives from an Arabic term. The Arabic numerals that are used throughout the world originally came from India, I believe. The same math is used everywhere on the planet.
Whoever wrote this article obviously doesn't know much about Tucson. Irvington and I-19 is not in South Tucson. It is on the Southside. I grew up in that neighborhood. I went to Sunnyside High. It isn't even close to South Tucson. Did any of the people involved with this article grow up in Tucson, or at least make an effort to learn something about the area? South Tucson is a city that is completely surrounded by Tucson. It is not part of Tucson. Get your facts right! Get a map!
