Chess Fest at Hotel Congress

Put your chess skills to the test for a good cause at the 9th Annual Chess Fest from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Hotel Congress (311 E. Congress St.). The free community event will feature a variety of chess themed fun for all ages and experience levels. Activities include beginner chess lessons, pick-up games, arts and crafts, puzzles, face painting and a giant chalk chessboard that can be captured by Google Earth. 9 Queens, the host of the party, is a nonprofit dedicated to empowerment through chess.
