She attended the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind and began her artistic career when she learned to crochet at the age of 8.
She then began to work with beads and restoration of beadwork she found at thrift and second-hand stores. Lewis began her painting career in the art room of Arts for All, Inc./Third St. Kids in the summer of 2001.
"Brenda immersed herself in learning to paint and has developed a unique folk art style in her paintings," says art instructor Danielle Dake.
Her paintings were entered in the Art of Triumph Show at the Museum of History in Phoenix, where she received an honorable mention award in that show. Most recently, her works were displayed at the Pima County Fair.
Arts For All, Inc./Third St. Kids is featuring an exhibition of her work. If you want to see it, you had better hurry. The exhibition of 40 art works by Lewis runs through Thursday.

Unwind at the Saturday food faire. The market's held in Plaza Palomino's old-world style courtyard and features locally grown produce, a variety of freshly baked goods, fresh fruit, salsa, herbs, teas, tamales and other unique foods.

DRUMMING UP FUN. Bang your own drum Saturday--and every fourth Saturday of the month.
The regular Drumming Circle has been replaced by a Drumming Workshop, hosted by Mike Burris of Corebeat. Burris will show drummers how to coax different sounds out of their instruments to enhance the experience.
You must bring your own drum to this event, which begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Spirit in Action Center, 6979 E. Broadway, Suite 125. Cost is $15 and includes materials. To register and for more information, call 751-7502.
SABINO SOUL STROLL. Looking for an evening full of peace and quiet? That's exactly what you will find at Sabino Canyon this Saturday, May 25. Join hikers at 7 p.m. at the Visitors Center. Embark on a 7.5-mile roundtrip hike on the road and enjoy the darkness of the night. Please leave your flashlights, cell phones and pagers at home unless needed for emergency purposes.
