Celebrate the publication of The San Pedro River: A Discovery Guide with walks, readings, signings and refreshments. Nature walks or talks are on the hour: 9, 10 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Subjects include birds, plants, river ecology and archaeology.
Visitors are encouraged to bring lunch.
Hanson is a native Southern Arizona naturalist, author and director of the Sky Island Alliance. The book release party is part of the second annual Sky Island Festival sponsored by the alliance.

SUNDAY FUNNIES. Summer break is over for the puppeteers at New Kiva Motions.
Arizona's premier professional puppet theater since 1980, New Kiva Motions is ready to get back to work at the Red Barn.
All Sundays in October, the group will present Fall Funnies, various shows from its repertoire and improvisations on classic kids' stories.
After every show kids get some up close and personal action with the puppets, and then the audience gets a chance to make a simple puppet to take home.
Shows begin at 1:30 p.m. Sundays at 948 N. Main Ave. Tickets cost $3 per person, $5 for 2 children and $2 for those with an AHCCCS card or low-income bus pass. Reservations are not required. For more information, call 887-5144.
