Re: “Young People in America are Dumb? No Kidding

I find it apalling how ignorant young people are today. Despite trillions of dollars thrown at education, our students rank 17th in the world in math and science. I find myself astounded at how little my grandkids know of geography, history and general knowledge. I'm an old codger, but when I graduated from high school I was ready for college. Want to know why? Because if a student in my generation couldn't pass a class, her or she was held back until they could. Young people need to be challenged or they will never develop into informed, literate adults. That's not happening nowadays, and our country is going to suffer for it. The only reason the U.S. can still hold its own with the world is the influx of brilliant foreign students into our universities. If that ever stops, we're going to be a third rate nation, with China and India eating our lunch.

Re: “Stupid Christian Idea of the Month

Robert, when Christ spoke to Simon (Peter), he didn't say "On you I will build my church," but he said "On this I will build my church." This means the revelation to Peter that Christ was the Messiah was the foundation of the church, and not Simon Peter himself. I don't think Jesus would have entrusted his legacy to a mere mortal; he entrusted Peter's knowledge but not Peter himself to build His church. If Peter was the Rock, why did he renounce Christ three times before the cock crowed? It just shows his infallibility as a human being, and Christ would not have depended only on a mere man to lead mankind to the Truth.

God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.

Re: “Stupid Christian Idea of the Month

"The preaching of the cross to those who perish is foolishness; for these things are spiritually discerned, and they cannot understand."
