Casino Celebration

Yes, young people, there was a time here in Southern Arizona when there were no casinos and the only way to pull a slot machine handle or double-down on a hand of blackjack was to head to Nevada.

Casino Del Sol, 5655 W. Valencia Road, one of the big players in Arizona gaming, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with 20 days of events, and while you've missed a few already, concerts from Kid Rock (Thursday, July 3, AVA Amphitheater), ventriloquist Jeff Dunham (Saturday, July 5, AVA Amphitheater), and a Tejano show featuring Jeff Perez and Los Super Reyes (also Saturday, July 5, but inside the conference center) are still ahead on the agenda, as well as a car show, ladies night, laser show combo on the Fourth of July, a slot tournament, pool party and various giveaways and promotions. The festivities close with a Roaring 20's party on Sunday, July 20 at 6 p.m.

For more information on the events, including ticket prices, head to casinodelsol.com.
