Candy

Abbie Cornish, who’s so pale that she makes Michael Jackson look black, stars as the titular Candy, a young woman who falls in love with a heroin addict, and then falls in love with heroin, and then lets men do dirty sex things to her for money. In many ways, this is the classic cinematic heroin story, which shows that drugs are really bad for you and that incredibly pretty people do drugs. Still, Candy has some deliriously good scripting, drawn from the novel by poet Luke Davies, and Cornish and male lead Heath Ledger provide real acting chops to back up their glowing beauty. Also starring Geoffrey Rush, Tony Martin and heroin.

Candy is not showing in any theaters in the area.
